"The New Sacrifice" is a print from the senior show. How sad I don't have new stuff!
I am teaching at Mauston Schools about a half hour away from our home and loving it!

I love looking at others political artwork, maybe because politics seem so pointless to me, but it's such a strong message. Our soldiers give up so much sometimes including their life, but the men making the big bucks have the luxury to play golf and be with their families. Support the troops!
You draw a sad comparison, which I relate to. There are so many little things in my life which I get caught up in, when others have it so much harder. To be awake and grateful to what we have and mindful of other's hardships. War is so sad and difficult on everyone.
2 things. 1)I liked this pring when you made it last year. The message is so poignant. Great message and meaning. 2) I actually went to school at Mauston. So i found it really funny to see you're working there. Too funny. Small world. Which building are you at?
I'm not a very political person, but this print really gets me fired up about our whole political system and the terrible skewed sense of sacrifice. We forget that there are soldiers fighting right now, people's loved ones and family members. Great comparison, really made me think.
I am from La Valle which is super close to Mauston! I remember when you made this print. I loved it then and love it now!
Glad to hear your teaching!... and so close to home. That's really great to hear. Miss you. Best to family too.
And... of course your print is stunning. The contrast between the grin and the coffins is powerful and haunting.
I really like the accents of color you used in the print... just enough to tie together the two images but not too overpowering. We all sure do miss you a lot in the shop...
Libby, you have portrayed a very powerful message here. War and politics are a messy bunch.
The perspective on the coffins is one of the most powerful parts of the image for me. I'm so happy to hear you are enjoying teaching!!! Wish we could go grab some lunch right now!!
fantastic. love the comic style writing.
I'm from Mauston and went to school there K-12. I graduated in 2003 from UWL. What a small world!
